See how the text-back works

Basepoint Works LLC ("we," "us") builds websites and provides missed-call text-back and online-presence services to local businesses. This policy explains what information we handle and how.

Two kinds of information

We handle information about two groups of people: our clients (the businesses that hire us) and our clients' customers (people who call or text those businesses). We treat these differently.

Information about our clients

When a business hires us, we collect the information needed to do the work: business name, contact name, phone, email, address, EIN or business registration details required for carrier compliance, and details about their services, pricing, and hours. We use this to build and maintain their website, configure their messaging system, and register their business with telecommunications carriers as required by law.

Information about our clients' customers

Our missed-call text-back service handles phone numbers and text-message conversations between our clients and the people who call them. We process this information on behalf of our clients, who own it. Specifically:

  • We receive the phone number of anyone who calls a client's business line and is not answered.
  • We send an automated text reply on the client's behalf and store any replies the caller sends.
  • Some replies are generated by an automated assistant, which discloses that it is automated and passes conversation details to the business owner.
  • We do not send messages to anyone who has not first contacted the business. We do not use purchased lists or third-party contact data.
  • Anyone can stop receiving messages by replying STOP. We honor opt-outs immediately and permanently.

We do not sell, rent, or share this information with third parties for their own purposes. It is used only to provide the service to the client whose customer it belongs to.

Service providers

We rely on third-party providers to operate: a telecommunications provider for calls and messages, cloud hosting for our software and clients' websites, and an AI provider for automated message handling. These providers process information only on our behalf and only as needed to deliver the service.

Retention

Client business information is kept for as long as we work together and as needed for ordinary business records. Message conversations are retained so clients can reference what a caller said; conversation records older than 48 hours are treated as a new conversation if the same number contacts the business again.

Your choices

Clients can request a copy of their data or ask us to delete it by contacting us. Callers who want to stop receiving messages from a client's business can reply STOP to any message, or contact that business directly.

Security

We use reasonable safeguards to protect the information we handle, including access controls and encrypted connections. No system is perfectly secure, and we will notify affected clients promptly if we become aware of a breach involving their data.

Children

Our services are for businesses and adults. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18.

Changes

If we update this policy, the revised version will be posted here with a new date.
